Scholarships

St Peter's Alumni Association offers a range of scholarships. Here is what we have on offer.

Alumni Scholarship

This scholarship was developed in 2002 and pertains to academic study for current students of St Peter’s. It is funded by the Alumni Association. 

- One scholarship is available to a student in Year 11, 12 or 13. The student must have a parent or grandparent who is a St Peter’s School Alumni Life Member.
- The scholarship is worth approximately $9,000pa. 
- It can be rolled over if all scholarship performance conditions are met.
- Preference will be given to a student who would not otherwise have the opportunity to attend St Peter’s School.
- Applicants must show potential for positive development. 
- Interviews may be required.
- The successful candidate is selected by the principal and/or his nominee.
- Candidates apply by filling in an application form which can be downloaded from the St Peter’s website.
- Applications are open all year round, but the application process closes on the 20th April for scholarships to be awarded in the following year.
- Funding comes from the Alumni Scholarships Special Purpose Fund.

The chapel's organ

Alumni Chapel Organ Scholarship

This scholarship was developed to celebrate the 75th Jubilee in 2011. It is funded by the Alumni Association.

- One scholarship is available to a student in Year 11, 12 or 13. The student must have a parent or grandparent who is a St Peter’s School Alumni Life Member.
- A scholarship worth $2,000 is available for a student who shows outstanding ability in organ performance. The scholarship can be rolled over if all scholarship performance conditions are met.
- The scholarship is for organ tuition related costs.
- The recipient will have some responsibility to play the chapel organ as required.
- An audition or interviews may be required.
- The successful candidate is selected by the Principal and/or his nominee.
- Candidates apply by filling in an application form which can be downloaded from the St Peter’s websit. 
- Applications are open all year round, but the application process closes on the 20th April for scholarships to be awarded in the following year. 
- Funding comes from the Alumni Scholarships Special Purpose Fund.

Alumni Travel Grant

This grant was developed in 2018 to support alumni of St Peter’s.

- Two overseas travel grants of up to $500 is available to a student in Year 13 or who recently left St Peter’s.
- The student, or recent alumnus of not more than five years, should be undertaking an activity of note overseas. This activity may include representing the school, the region or nation in an academic, sporting or artistic endeavour, or by undertaking a voluntary role for charitable or environmental support purposes.
- Interviews may be required.
- The successful candidate is selected by the Alumni Committee.
- Candidates apply by writing to the Alumni Association Committee. 
- Applications open in September and close in December. 
- Funding comes from the Alumni Scholarships Special Purpose Fund.

Calf Day 1984

Agri-business Alumni Scholarship

This scholarship was developed in 2018 and pertains to practical or academic study in the fields of agriculture or business and enterprise.

- One scholarship is available to a student in Year 11, 12 or 13. The student must have a parent or grandparent who is a St Peter’s School Alumni Life Member.
- The scholarship is worth approximately $2,000 p.a. 
- The scholarship can be rolled over if all scholarship performance conditions are met. 
- Applicants must show potential for positive development. 
- Interviews may be required.
- The successful candidate is selected by the principal and/or his nominee.
- Applications are open all year round, but the application process closes on the 20th April for scholarships to be awarded in the following year. 
- Funding comes from the Alumni Scholarships Special Purpose Fund.

Scholarships funded by the St Peter’s Foundation

Linda Bragg Memorial Scholarship

- A half scholarship for a Year 7 student will be offered in 2019. One scholarship, worth $6,000, will be offered every year to a Year 9, 10, 11, 12 or 13 student.
- Please state in your covering letter the reasons why you would not otherwise have the opportunity to attend St Peter’s, as this is a condition of Linda Bragg’s gift to St Peter’s.
- The scholarship can be rolled over if all scholarship performance conditions are met
- Potential recipients must show desire for positive development.
- Interviews and auditions may be required.
- The successful candidate is selected by the Principal and/or his nominee.
- Applications are open all year round, but the application process closes on the 20th April for scholarships to be awarded in the following year.
- Funding comes from the lawyers currently administering the Estate of Linda Bragg.
- This is a Donor-Funded Restricted, Endowed Scholarship.
- Website visibility is required.

Richard Vallentine Scholarships

- Prep School (Years 7 and 8 only). These scholarships are up to $3,000 each. Criteria includes:
- To assist students who would otherwise not be able to attend.
- To reward and encourage students who strive to be the best they can be.
- To attract students who will contribute to the Prep School and make the most of their opportunities.
- Interviews and auditions may be required.
- The successful candidate is selected by the Principal and/or his nominee.
- Applications are open all year round, but the application process closes on the 20th April for scholarships to be awarded in the following year.
- Funding comes from the Foundation Preserved Capital Fund.
- This is a Donor-Funded Restricted, Endowed Scholarship.
- Website visibility is required.

Foundation Extra-Curricular Scholarships

- Two scholarships for boarding or day students, boys or girls, entering Years 12 or 13.
- Each scholarship is worth $6,000 p.a.
- The scholarships will be awarded to students demonstrating skills beyond the ordinary in any sporting or cultural activity. For example, it is likely that the successful students will have played for a representative team or will have been selected to play in an orchestra or sing in a choir. The students should have a positive attitude and sound work habits.
- The students will commit themselves to a standard of excellence in the chosen extra-curricular activity or activities. 
- Short-listed candidates may be interviewed by the principal and an interview panel. Auditions may also be necessary (where appropriate).

Foundation General Scholarships*

Other scholarships may be awarded at the Principal’s discretion. These scholarships acknowledge and reward: leadership and attitude, loyalty to the School, academic ability, a particular skill or ability (sporting or cultural - in particular, music), a particular need, opportunities for disadvantaged students, our commitment to offering opportunities to Māori and Pacific Island students.
Candidates may be interviewed and/or examined or auditioned.
